How to Buy Expired Domains for Profit: A Simple Guide

Expired domains are like free land. You know what I mean. They’re free until someone buys them for just over $10. After that, they are taken. But if the person forgets to renew it, the domain becomes free again. When that happens, the marketplace might start a bidding war. Sometimes, the domain reverts to being free, as if it were never owned. At other times, it becomes extremely popular, and people are willing to pay a lot to obtain it.

Flipping Domains for Profit

There are several ways to track expired domains and those that are about to expire. It’s like buying a house. You can buy someone else’s home, wait for them to leave, and acquire it for a significantly lower price. Once you own the domain, you can keep it, improve it, or sell it for a reasonable price.

You can also wait and set a price. Then, someone can come and buy it when they are ready. It’s like buying and selling stocks, but with domains.

ExpiredDomains vs. Competitors

I like Domain Hunter Gatherer for finding expired domains, but it requires a paid subscription. It provides you with a wealth of valuable information. ExpiredDomains is free. One person runs it, and any money from it, so that you can use it for

Free for Everyone

The best thing about ExpiredDomains is that it’s free to use. There are no limits on how many searches you can do. But there are some problems. A single person runs the site, so it is not particularly fast. You can filter the results, but you only get the top ones. This is because the site can’t handle too much traffic. If people were allowed to scrape all the data, it might crash the website.

No Bulk Processing Allowed

The site owner states that you can’t use any bots or automated tools. If you use a bot, you will get banned. However, you can request to have your account reinstated if needed. This is a small price to pay for a free service. The site has millions of domain results, and it’s challenging for a single server to handle such a large volume.

Quick and Simple

There are other free tools to find expired domains, but I like this one because it’s simple. The site is easy to use and doesn’t have any extra stuff. There are no ads or complicated things. It’s a good site for people who want to get the job done.

Many Filters for Specific Searches

ExpiredDomains offers numerous filters to help you narrow down your results. You can select available domains or check for domains that are currently up for bid. You can also filter by factors such as backlinks, rankings, and years.

If you’re looking for domains with certain words, or if you don’t want hyphens or specific characters, this site helps. There are filters for everything from letters to the number of vowels or consonants.

Some Degree of Uncertainty

Please note that data about expired domains may not always be accurate. The site uses good sources, but some domains are in a “maybe” state. This means they might be abandoned or not, and you don’t know if they will be renewed. The SEO data is valuable, but it’s not always the best. Some domains may have been abandoned because they didn’t perform well or were associated with bad links.

Do Your Research

ExpiredDomains is a great way to find domains, but it’s just the first step. If you want to dig deeper and gather more information, there are additional tools that can assist you.

Overall, ExpiredDomains is a great, free tool, and I’m excited to see what it accomplishes. The owner is working on adding an automatic API, which will further enhance the experience in the future.
